Rabindra Mishra, (Chair):
Holds Masters degrees in Journalism and English Literature. Has worked as a television and print journalist in Nepal and Pakistan. Has been working for the BBC World Service as a Producer for the last six years. Though he earns his living by selling ‘words’, he believes ‘words’ cannot bring about real change, ‘actions’ can, hence, the initiation of HELP NEPAL Network. Shree Ram Rayamajhi, (Vice-Chair):
MBA, ACCA, and an Associate Member of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Currently working with McKelvie & Co, Chartered Accountants, as an Audit Manager.
Bishwa Limbu, (General Secretary):
Academic education from St Xavier’s (Godavari), Budhanilkantha School and Trinity College, Oxford. Comes from a family of British Gurkhas. Currently a financial analyst for a firm of stockbrokers in London.
Dr Pranab Gyawali, (Secretary):
Is a graduate of Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital and completed his MRCP (UK) in early 1999.He was working as a junior doctor at St George Hospital London, before he went to volunteer at Patan Hospital in Nepal in September ’99.
Shiva Sainju, (Treasurer):
MBA, BL (Nepal), ACCA-Affiliate (UK). Works for an accountancy firm with a practice in Greater London. Has worked as a business extension worker for over a decade in Nepal, India and Sri Lanka and was also a consultant/instructor for the British Gurkhas Resettlement Wing in Kathmandu.
Kaustuv Poudyal, (Co-treasurer):
Holds an MBA from Nepal and an MSc in Finance and Administration from Thames Valley University, UK. Currently an accountant for BSS Associates Limited (Charted Accountant and Registered Auditors), London.
Emily Haslam-Jones, (Member):
Has worked in Nepal running English adult education classes, and with a women’s trekking company trying to provide women with skills and jobs, whilst providing female trekkers with an alternative to the cultural misunderstandings that often arise with male guides. She is presently studying Nepali and Social Anthropology at the School of Oriental and African Studies.
Julie Basnet, (Member):
Works at Habib Bank AG Zurich in London and is also a part-time marketing officer for the Audience Research Department of the BBC World Service.
Samip Hangbang “Jarjar”, (Member):
An active social worker among the Nepalese community in London. Has a keen interest in literature and writes for various publications.
Rajesh Shrestha, (Member):
Holds a BA (Hons) in Business Studies and is currently studying towards a Chartered Institute of Management Accountants qualification.
Birendra Shrestha, (Member):
A computer graduate. Has lived in Britain for 16 years and is currently an Account Manager in a mail order company.
Arun Singh Basnet, (Nepal Co-ordinator):
President – Youth Against Drugs (YAD); President – Amnesty Internation Group 35 Nepal; Founder President – Aawhan Samuha, a group dedicated to social work and promotion of arts and literature; Assistant Secretary – Nepal Police and Local Residents’ Alliance for Community Service. Heads HELP’ NEPAL’s seven-member Nepal co-ordinating team. Began his career in social work immediately after completing his schooling and has not looked back since. For his livelihood, he works with the Nepal Water Supply Corporation and is involved in a small business.
