Renovation and Furniture Support to Janajagriti LS School, Syangja
Project: Renovation and furniture support to Shree Janajagriti Lower Secondary School
Location: Chapakot-8, Syangja
Cost: NRs. 9,53,520/- (Nine lakh fifty-three thousand five hundred and twenty rupees only)
Date: April 6, 2016
Shree Janajagriti Lower Secondary School was partially damaged in the 2015 earthquake and dropout rates increased among students.
With financial support from HELP NEPAL Network Austria, the school was able to renovate its classrooms with new furniture (80 sets of desks and benches) for classes 1 to 8, along with whiteboards in every classroom.
The school replaced roofing sheets damaged earlier in a storm. They also constructed a retaining wall near the toilet. A landslide had previously obstructed the path making it difficult for students to access the school toilet. Students and teachers were compelled to use a concrete ramp to access the school building after construction was halted and the school finally has a staircase, along with a water tank and pipes for its water supply system.
Funds were disbursed in three instalments after signing a MoU in April and the project was completed by December 2016.
