Nepali Runs Iceland Marathon to Support HeNN
Anil Thapa was the sole Nepali competing in the Reykjavik marathon on Saturday 21st August 2004.
Here is what he had to say after the grueling event:
“I enjoyed every second of it. On the track of 42 km, people from every household came outside, started playing their music, some started dancing, some even shouting Nepal, Nepal, Nepal(they saw my t-shirt advertising Help Nepal Network), to encourage runners. It was simply fantastic.”
“I could have finished my run earlier than 5hrs and 10 minutes but my shoes made me reduce my pace. Also my mission wasn’t to compete with others and win the gold medal, it was to complete the race and raise money for those suffering from minimal needs back in Nepal.”
If you wish to contact him, you can email him via admin@helpnepal.net. If you wish to support the cause Anil would welcome your donation either via www.givenow.org or by sending cheques payable to Help Nepal Network to your nearest HeNN team.
Please indicate ‘Iceland Marathon’ on the back of Cheques.
