Project Description: HELP NEPAL Network conducted a free surgical eye camp in one of the oldest and highly populated villages of Lumbini Zone. This was the first health camp of any kind to have been conducted in the village.
The camp reached five other VDCs serving a total of 1510 patients. The health camp lasted three days and there were free medicine and eye glasses distributed to the patients. There were 150 people screened for cataract surgery and 78 of them were operated for cataract extraction. Prescription eye glasses were distributed to 200 patients. Similarly, 52 cases of complicated cataract were identified, and patients with other cataract related issues were referred to nearby hospitals.
