Project name: Building and Female-Friendly Toilet Construction at Bishnu Secondary School, Dolakha
Location: Garimudi VDC-2, Dolakha
Date: 2012
Cost: NRs. 10,55,662.92/-
Project Description: Shree Bishnu Secondary School was established in 1964. In rural areas, students usually walk several miles to go to school. The ability of students to attend school is affected by many factors, including poor weather, overcrowded classrooms and family situations that keep older children at home to work or take care of their siblings. Along with this, most schools in the district are also running out of books and teaching materials. The schools are often overcrowded, with as many as 40-50 students crammed into classrooms that are only meant to hold 20 students. Due to these factors, there is lack of proper toilets. Especially for girls who are forced to miss regular classes during menstruation. The enrollment rate of girls in the school is also low.
The main objective of this project is to build proper female friendly toilets so that they can enroll as many female students as possible and to give quality education to the children. HeNN US financially supported this project with NRs. 8,34,000 which helped in building and toilet construction.
